Directions to Squalicum Harbor – If you are coming from the North or from the South, travel on I-5 to Bellingham. Take exit # 256 Meridian Street. If you are coming from the South, stay in the left lane on the off ramp (but do not get in the far left lane that exits to Bellis Fair Mall unless you want to go shopping!) and turn left onto Meridian St. If you are coming from the North, you have to take a left off the off ramp and go a half block to Meridian St. Then turn right onto Meridian St.

Go approximately ½ mile to the next stoplight. You will want to be into the right hand lane. There are two sets of stoplights here. The first is for Birchwood Ave. Go through the first light and then turn right at the second stop light onto Squalicum Way. This road takes you right to Squalicum Harbor. You will make a sharp left hand turn as you get to the water and the road turns into Roeder Ave. Keep going past LFS Supply and past the first Harbor Entrance. Notice all the nice new boats on your right!!

Go another block or so and turn right onto Bellweather Parkway. Then take the next right into the boat launch area. Continue straight ahead to the launch area. The parking lot is on the right. If the parking lot is full, there is overflow parking back across Bellweather Parkway by Redden Net.

Launch Facilities – The primary boat launch to use in Bellingham is the public launch located at Gate 10 at Squalicum Harbor. There is a $7 cost to launch so make sure to have a $7 bill with you. This is a very nice boat launch that can accommodate virtually any size boat and at any tide level. Ample parking is provided at no additional cost. It is open basically 24 hours a day. Check out the maps shown at the left. A weigh station will be set up at the boat launch, see contest rules for more information on weigh stations and times.

Moorage – The Port of Bellingham has graciously allowed us to reserve dock space for Derby participants. The dock is one of the guest docks located next to the launch ramp at Squalicum Harbor. It is a 550 ft. dock and can accommodate up to 20 or 30 boats, depending on the sizes. Anyone using the dock must register with the Harbormaster. This must be done by filling out a registration slip. Registration slips can be found across from the restrooms at the main boat launch area in the Harbor Center. Or you can visit the Harbor office. The cost is $.50 per foot per day ($12.00 min.) and includes power and water. Rafting of boats is allowed on this dock. Please contact us in advance if you want to use the guest dock so we can notify the Harbor Master of the approximate number of boats that we expect to be moored there.

Deer Harbor – Additional moorage facilities are available at Deer Harbor on Orcas Island. A weigh station will also be available here, see contest rules for more information on weigh stations and times. More information about the facilities at Deer Harbor can be obtained by contacting Mark Broman, 360-376-3037. There also is a small inn here if you prefer a real bed. Contact The Dear Harbor Inn.
